Researchers from the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T won awards at the college’s Awards of Excellence luncheon, held May 16 at the University Farm.

The awards were:

  • Interdisciplinary Team Award – Osei Yeboah, Ph.D. and Paula Faulkner, Ph.D. – Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education; Kingsley Ekwemalor, Ph.D., Department of Animal Sciences.
  • Rookie of the Year Award – Blessing Masasi, Ph.D., Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design.
  • Competitive Research Awards – Arnab Bhowmik, Ph.D. – Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design; Biswanath Dari, Ph.D. – Cooperative Extension; Roberta Claro Da Silva, Ph.D. – Department of Family and Consumer Sciences; Chyi Lyi Liang, Ph.D. – Cooperative Extension.

N.C. agriculture panel highlights importance of research stations in semester’s first student forum

If the key to feeding a hungry planet is agricultural production, the key to production is agricultural research. That was the message of N.C. Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler and Teresa Lambert, division director of research stations, who visited campus virtually on Aug. 26 in the first of three forums planned this semester involving the NCDA&CS and the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences about issues in agriculture and policy. Students, faculty, Extension staff and other members of the CAES attended the first online discussion of the semester, with a question and answer mediated on Zoom by junior animal sciences major Tahira Jones, president of the college’s chapter of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS).
