May 25, 2026

Students in Professor Roy Carter's design and typography class designed logos and gave creative names to the new A&T Creamery, opening this year on the University Farm. Interim Dean Radiah C. Minor, center, presented three students with certificates and cards for free ice cream as a thank-you for their work. With her, in addition to the class, is creamery manager Elliot Hughes; CAES communications director Lydian Bernhardt;and Professor Roy Carter (back row, center.)

Here’s the Scoop: The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences asked students in Professor Roy Carter’s visual arts classes to design a logo and a name for the N.C. A&T Creamery, opening this year. After learning a bit about the dairy and the process of making the ice cream, the students put their design and typography skills to work to create some amazing designs!

From two cows and a spoon to the “1891 Cafe” to “Pasture to Parlor” to “Moo and Gold Creamery,” the look and feel of a farm cafe came through – with a big swirl of Aggie Pride!

First, second and third place winners received bragging rights, a big shout-out on CAES social media channels, and scoops of free ice cream.

Thanks to all of the students who participated in this contest—You’re all a sprinkle above the rest!
